In a world before money, taxes, inflation, and jobs, Mother Earth gave freely. All we needed to do was gather from a place of beauty where we could roam free. When Columbus reached the shores, he observed that the native people were generous, describing how they gave freely. He noted their gentleness and how deeply they felt loss, which underscored their humanity and the strong bonds within their communities. He admired their physical appearance, commenting on their well-built forms and handsome features. Yet, despite their peaceful nature and lack of weaponry, Columbus saw an opportunity for exploitation, stating, 'They would make fine servants... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.'
This marked the beginning of our apocalypse. Now, we live on reserves, having lost stewardship of the land and all that Mother Earth once provided freely.
We see a similar tragedy unfolding in Palestine, another heartbreaking chapter in the many genocides driven by ideologies of ethnic cleansing.
